ToMarket
What OpenTable does for restaurants and buyers with reservations, we do for farmers/artisans and chefs with their ordering.
|
Farmers and artisans are using the same old methods of taking orders, and it's wasting their time, money, yield, and data. ToMarket is the platform for buyers to find, connect, and order from any seller.
|
What Problem Are They Solving?
Farmers don't know how to find, build, and maintain relationships with chefs. They're resorting to phone calls, emails, and texts and it's losing them time, money, and business. The only way a chef has to find a farmer is through Google, then calling (they won't pick up), emailing (they won't answer), then going to the farm and hoping they're there. On a large scale this problem is wasting $161 billion dollars of food in 2017 because it's easier for a farmer to throw their food away than to try to navigate this whole process before the food rots anyway.
|
What's Innovative About Their Solution?
We're not a traditional online catalog. They'll never work because: 1. food is perishable 2. you have to take on a percentage and the delivery 3. Chefs are willing to pay more for consistency. So, catalogs have to repeat the same capital-intensive process of scaling to any new market, vertical, or buyer.
ToMarket is different because we make the relationship easy for once. We don't touch the money or the product, our value is in the frictionless ordering process and that's what we charge for. Just like Opentable, they're not making the best food, they're making the reservation process frictionless.

Traction
Just like OpenTable who provides a service and product for the restaurant, we provide the same for artisans and farmers. We capture the farmers through associations and referrals. They bring on their buyers which we can then connect to other sellers. Chefs need more than just produce, so we provide them with the spices, fish, meats, etc. that they need all in one place.
|
Big Wins
We've done over 1,300 orders and we're charging $.50 on average per order. We had 25 recurring buyers with 400 accounts and our goal is to end the year with 20k accounts placing on average 1.5 orders a week.
