Quillo is a digital marketplace for second-hand tertiary education textbooks that provides a safe platform for the buying and selling of textbooks by students.
Quillo is a digital marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of second-hand textbooks at tertiary-education institutions. Buyers pay online, books are delivered door to door and the seller is paid only once the buyer has received the textbook and is satisfied with it.
Those textbooks are, on average, 70% cheaper than their new counterparts. Additionally, as an escrow platform, Quillo makes it far safer, easier and more convenient for students to find or sell second-hand textbooks.

What's Innovative About Their Solution?

Currently, buyers and sellers of second-hand textbooks resort to one of three options: they print posters and put them up on cluttered noticeboards to advertise their old textbooks, they advertise their textbooks on a general and inefficient second-hand marketplace, or they stand in a queue to sell it to a company that buys and resells textbooks, for a very high mark-up. Quillo’s  service is innovative in that they rid students of the inconveniences of the three options above, as they are purely digital and hold no stock of textbooks, allowing them to offer the cheapest price on the market and thus enabling more students access to textbooks.
